The integration connects these two areas by allowing Sycope alerts to create Jira incidents automatically or manually. A ticket can contain information about the detected event together with links that lead directly back to the relevant alert and related events in Sycope.
This allows the operational workflow to continue in Jira while Sycope remains the source of network data and technical context required for deeper investigation.

From a Sycope alert to a managed incident
When Sycope generates an alert, an External Action can send the event to Jira through its REST API.
The action can be assigned to a Sycope rule and executed automatically when the configured alert and severity conditions are met. It can also be triggered manually from the context menu of an active alert when an analyst decides that the event should become a Jira incident.
The resulting ticket can include the alert details, problem description and links to the corresponding information in Sycope. The repository example includes links both to the specific alert and to related alerts, allowing the engineer handling the ticket to move directly from incident management to network analysis when additional context is required.
Once the incident is created, the standard Jira workflow can be used for assignment, status management, comments, escalation and activity history.
Sycope therefore initiates the operational process with information derived from network monitoring, while Jira provides the workspace in which the response is coordinated.
Two integration options for different workflows
The integration can be implemented in two ways depending on how much automation is required.
Direct Sycope–Jira integration
In the basic scenario, Sycope communicates directly with the Jira REST API.
When an External Action is executed, a new Jira incident is created using a predefined JSON payload. The integration can operate manually or automatically and can be configured for selected Sycope rules and alert severity levels.
This approach is suitable when each selected Sycope alert should create a separate ticket in Jira.
Jira integration with Microsoft Power Automate
For environments where recurring alerts should be grouped into existing incidents, Microsoft Power Automate can be used as an additional automation layer.
In this scenario, Sycope sends the alert to a Power Automate webhook. The workflow parses the received information and checks Jira for an existing open incident that matches defined criteria.
The example provided in the Sycope repository compares the alert name, Client IP and Server IP. These criteria can be adapted or extended according to the requirements of the environment.
If a matching open incident exists, the new occurrence is added as a comment to that ticket. If no matching incident is found, Power Automate creates a new Jira incident.
This allows recurring occurrences of the same network issue to remain associated with a single incident rather than generating a new ticket each time.
Complementary capabilities, clearly divided
Sycope and Jira remain independent products, with each platform covering a different part of the operational process.
Sycope provides:
- Flow-based network analysis
- Network performance monitoring
- Network anomaly and threat detection
- Alert generation based on configured rules
- Host-to-host communication visibility
- Historical network data
- Technical context for further investigation
Jira provides:
- Incident and ticket management
- Assignment and ownership
- Status tracking
- Comments and collaboration
- Escalation workflows
- Labels, custom fields and categorization
- Activity history and documentation
Sycope identifies network activity that requires attention and provides the evidence needed to investigate it. Jira turns the selected event into managed operational work that can be assigned, tracked and documented across teams.
Connecting detection with the response process
An alert is useful only when it reaches the people responsible for acting on it and becomes part of an established response process.
The integration connects Sycope detection with the ticketing workflow already used by operational teams.
Turning network alerts into assigned work
Selected Sycope alerts can automatically create incidents in Jira instead of remaining only in the monitoring interface.
This is particularly useful in environments where network monitoring, security, infrastructure and application responsibilities are distributed across different teams. The incident can be assigned to the appropriate person or group and processed according to the organization’s existing Jira workflow.
Manual creation remains available for alerts that require analyst assessment before being escalated into a ticket.
Preserving technical context
Creating a Jira incident does not require the full network investigation to be reproduced inside the ticket.
The integration can include basic alert information and direct links back to Sycope. An engineer handling the incident can therefore review the operational information in Jira and move to Sycope when traffic history, communication details or related events are needed.
This keeps the incident management process and technical analysis connected without attempting to duplicate the functionality of either platform.
Reducing duplicate incidents
Recurring network conditions can generate the same alert multiple times.
With a direct Jira integration, each execution can create a separate incident. The Power Automate variant adds logic that checks whether an open ticket already exists for the same issue.
In the provided workflow, the comparison is based on the alert name, Client IP and Server IP. When a match is found, the new alert is added as a comment instead of creating another incident. User can choose fields used for comparison mapping.
The ticket therefore retains a history of subsequent occurrences while the Jira queue remains focused on distinct issues.
Organizing incidents across teams and environments
Information received from Sycope can also be used to categorize Jira incidents.
The integration example supports fields such as Client IP and Server IP, while Jira labels, tags and additional custom fields can be used according to the organization’s own processes.
This can help teams filter incidents by affected systems, customer environments or other operational criteria while preserving a link to the underlying Sycope alert.
A ready, documented integration
Both Jira integration variants are documented in the Sycope public GitHub repository.
For the direct integration, the repository provides a ready-to-use JSON payload together with instructions for configuring the Jira API connection and Sycope External Destination.
The Power Automate variant includes additional JSON templates for retrieving open Jira incidents, creating new incidents and adding comments to existing tickets.
The provided configurations can be used as a starting point and adapted to the organization’s own Jira project structure, fields, matching criteria and incident management workflow.
How the direct Jira integration works
The basic integration consists of three main elements.
Jira API access
A Jira project or IT service management space is prepared for receiving Sycope incidents, and an API token is created for authentication.
The project key identifies where new incidents should be created.
External Destination in Sycope
Jira is configured in Sycope as an External Destination using the REST client.
The destination points to the Jira issue API endpoint and uses a custom JSON payload containing the information that should be included in a new incident.
Manual or automatic incident creation
The Jira action can be executed manually from the context menu in Sycope or assigned directly to a Sycope rule.

For automatic actions, the configuration can determine which alert threshold levels should trigger incident creation.
Once the action is executed, Sycope sends the payload to Jira and a new incident is created.
The Jira incident can include alert details and direct links to the original alert and related alerts in Sycope, allowing the analyst to move from incident handling in Jira to deeper network investigation in Sycope.

How the Power Automate workflow works
The extended integration adds an automation layer between Sycope and Jira.
Alert webhook from Sycope
Sycope sends the active alert as JSON to an HTTP webhook configured in Power Automate.
The workflow parses the received information and makes the alert fields available for subsequent actions.
Search for an existing Jira incident
Power Automate queries Jira for open incidents matching the configured criteria.
The repository example uses the Sycope alert name together with Client IP and Server IP. Custom Jira fields are created for the two IP addresses so that they can participate in the comparison.
Duplicate detection
The workflow checks whether at least one matching open incident exists.
If a matching ticket is found, the alert is treated as another occurrence of an existing issue. If no match exists, it is treated as a new incident.

Comment or new incident
For an existing issue, Power Automate adds a comment containing information about the new Sycope alert.
For a new issue, it uses the provided payload to create a Jira incident.
The matching logic can be modified to use additional or different fields when the organization requires more precise incident grouping.
From recurring alerts to one incident history
Consider a network condition that repeatedly generates the same Sycope alert for communication between the same client and server.
The first occurrence is sent to Power Automate. No corresponding open Jira incident exists, so a new ticket is created with the alert information and links back to Sycope.
When the same condition appears again, another alert reaches the workflow. Power Automate identifies an existing open incident with the same alert name, Client IP and Server IP.
Instead of creating another ticket, the workflow adds the new occurrence as a comment to the existing incident.
The team working in Jira can therefore see that the problem has occurred repeatedly and retain its history in one place. When deeper technical analysis is required, the linked Sycope views provide access to the network data associated with the alert.
This connects network detection, operational ownership and recurring event history without requiring analysts to manually copy information between monitoring and ticketing systems.
See the integration in your environment
The Sycope–Jira integration brings network alerts into the incident management process used by IT, NOC and SOC teams.
The direct integration provides a straightforward path from a Sycope alert to a Jira incident, while the Power Automate variant adds logic for identifying recurring issues and maintaining subsequent alert occurrences within the same ticket.
